In The Golden Trail we join Adam and Anisah in the month of Ramadan as they discover a treasure box containing gold coins and a note with instructions that they are duty bound to follow. When opened, a glittering light escapes from the box, taking Adam and Anisah on a journey to an unknown destination. A beautifully illustrated story that demonstrates the life changing power of Zakat and the importance of generosity, community spirit and compassion. A perfect Ramadan read!
Context to the Story
“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while his neighbour goes hungry.” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]
We join Adam and Anisah in the month of Ramadan as they discover the transformative power of Zakat (charity).
The journey throughout The Golden Trail provides Adam and Anisah with opportunities to witness the character strengths compassion, kindness, empathy and generosity in action. An example of this is the Lemon-aid stand which has been set up outside the Mosque to raise money for orphans in need.
The Golden Trail aims to introduce children to the importance of community spirit and neighbourliness, and build awareness of people within their own towns and cities who might be struggling and in need, like the mum in the story who is a recent refugee.
Adam teaches Anisah that whatever we give to others is returned and multiplied by Allah, and that a real superhero gives generously what they can of their wealth, food, friendship and time.
Developing Character Strengths
Generosity: When you are happy to give what you have and share with others.
