how to make your lanterns
Measure and draw out 5 strips of card that are all the same width. You will need 1 short piece that is 5cm wide and 20cm long, 2 medium pieces that are 5cm wide and 25cm long and 2 long pieces that are 5cm wide and 30cm long.
Arrange the strips of card so that you have the longer pieces on the outsides, then the medium pieces, and then the shortest piece in the middle. Hold the top ends together, then staple the cards near the edge.
Turn it upside down and take the other ends of the card strips and make them all line up. The longer pieces will curve outwards. Now staple these ends together, near the edge. You can now stick glitter to it if you want to make it all sparkly.
Finally, take a long piece of string and slide it between the second and middle strips of card. Pull the string until it’s doubled up, then ask a grown-up to tape it to the ceiling or tie it around a curtain pole.
